obama on irans nukes

After Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu states that his neighboring country of Iran is 6 months away from having nuclear weapons, President Obama has a very different assessment. On Friday, the President told the Associate Press that Iran was year or more away from having nukes. Although he has not ruled out military intervention, Obama hopes the U.S. can reach a diplomatic solution. To read more, click below.

Recently President Obama had a phone conversation with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani – something that has not occurred between the two countries in over 30 years. Here’s what Obama had to say about the Iranian President:

“I think Rouhani has staked his position on the idea that he can improve relations with the rest of the world and so far, he’s been saying a lot of the right things. And the question now is, can he follow through?”

As for Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei; he did not agree with the telephone conversation. Khamenei described his thoughts on the west as:

“We are pessimistic about Americans and have no trust in them,” he said. “The American government is untrustworthy, disloyal, considers itself superior and breaks its promises.”

Hopefully President Obama can sort out whatever mess that is going on, on the other side of the world. Not for nothing, do you think Obama has the right assessment or do you believe the Israeli President, who is a few miles away from Iran? Even the Iran leaders are at ends about their relationship with the United States. Something doesn’t fly straight about this whole nuclear weapons issue in Iran.
