Surprisingly the New England Patriots have released quarterback Tim Tebow according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The surprise isn’t because Tebow was a great quarterback, it’s because he was loved by the Patriots owner, Robert Kraft. During the previous preseason games the Patriots elected not to play Tebow but during the final game against the New York Giants, Tebow played the entire second half of the Patriots 28-20 win. Tebow finished 6-of-11 for 91 yards, with two touchdowns and one interception. He was sacked four times and rushed for 30 yards on six carries, according to ESPN. The showing apparently wasn’t good enough and he was released this morning. The Patriots also decided to carry injured tight end Rob Gronkowski on their 53-man roster rather than putting him on injured reserve.
