Pete Rose really knows how to stir things up doesn’t he?! Pete thinks he should have picked alcohol, drugs or beat up his wife because baseball doesn’t forgive gamblers. He believes that he’d already be back in baseball’s good graces if he had picked a different vice.

Major League Baseball’s all-time hits leader says he should have picked a different vice.
Pete Rose, who has been banned from the sport since 1989 for betting on games, told John Phillips on 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh that gamblers don’t get a second chance.
“I should have picked alcohol. I should have picked drugs or I should have picked up beating up my wife or girlfriend because if you do those three, you get a second chance. They haven’t given too many gamblers second chances in the world of baseball.”
Rose said he understands why he was given the lifetime punishment but doesn’t appreciate comparisons to “Shoeless” Jackson, who was banned following the 1919 Black Sox scandal.
“Jackson, I think, took money to throw World Series games,” Rose told Phillips. “I know I bet on my own team to win. There’s a pretty big difference there, but both of us were wrong.”
Rose, now 72, has made many attempts to clear his name and become eligible for baseball’s Hall of Fame over the years. But he may finally be at peace with his lifetime ban.
“If I ever made [it], I’d be the happiest guy in the world. But I don’t want you to think that I go to bed at night praying I make the Hall of Fame. When I go to bed at night, I pray that I wake up tomorrow morning. That’s where I’m at in my life right now.”
