Rebecca Zahau was found hanging nude in a California mansion, and it was ruled a suicide in July 2011. Two days prior, the son of Dina Shacknai, 6, died falling down the stairs, and it was ruled accidental. Dina Shacknai is the ex-wife of Zahau’s boyfriend. Now the family of Rebecca Zahau is filing a lawsuit claiming that Rebecca was murdered.
On Friday, the family of Rebecca Zahau filed a $10 million lawsuit claiming wrongful death. The lawsuit is filed against Adam Shacknai and Dina Shacknai, brother and ex-wife of Zahau’s Arizona millionaire boyfriend Jonah Shacknai, as well as Dina Shacknai’s twin sister, Nina Romano, as defendants. Jonah Shacknai is not named in the suit.
When Rebecca Zahau’s death was ruled a suicide, it enraged her family, and it forced them to hire forensic experts and attorneys for further investigation.
The family’s lawsuit states, “the defendants threatened to cause immediate physical harm to Rebecca by threatening to stalk, attack, choke, gag, bound and hang her at the mansion.”
Adam Shacknai told authorities he found the nude body Rebecca Zahau, hanging by a rope from a second-story balcony, and cut her down. He also said, “Her hands were bound behind her back, her feet were bound, and a T-shirt was wrapped around her lower face.”
How does one commit suicide with her hands and feet bound? Along with the Zahau family, I also believe foul play is a factor in Rebecca’s death and further investigation is needed with the lawsuit filed.
