The Nets announced late last night they agreed to a 2 year contract with former All-Star Andrei Kirilenko. He was a all-star and a very good player when he was with the Utah Jazz years ago. He is a little older now but averaged about 13 points per game last season for the Timberwolves. Read more after the jump.

Kirilenko at this point wants to play for a team that has a chance to win. He signed a 2 year/$20 million dollar contract last year with the Wolves, but opted out of the second year, giving up $10 million to become a free agent. His new deal with the Nets is much lower, as it is a 2 year contract, and he will make $3.1 million this year. S0 he basically gave up the difference of almost $7 million to play for a contender, can’t blame him for that. He is a very versatile player who will be able to step in and play well when Paul Pierce or Garnett need a rest for their new team. This pickup might be very underrated but could pay off big time later in the season. The Nets are going all in for this season.
