The Nuggets fired Coach of the Year George Karl after 57 wins and another first round playoff exit. So far they’ve interviewed Brian Shaw and former Grizzlies coach Lionel Hollins but they also have another person in mind. Read more after the jump.
Vinny Del Negro’s contract was not renewed by the Los Angeles Clippers amongst chatter of dislike amongst the team and the front office. The Clippers finished the season with 56 wins and the Pacific Division title for the first time in the team’s history but like the Nuggets they suffered a first round exit in the playoffs. Amongst criticism of his rotations, decision making and overall control of the team, many believed Del Negro would never get the Clippers over the hump.
Now he’s being considered by the Denver Nuggets reports Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports. The move in my opinion wouldn’t be a wise one but it’s still likely that Shaw or Hollins will get the job depending on what the Clippers do and who moves first. The mega deal that would bring Doc Rivers to the Clippers is reportedly dead and he’s back with the Celtics discussing his future. Rivers will either remain with the team or go into TV broadcasting. Should he choose to leave, Del Negro was also reportedly being considered for that job as well.
