This Is F’n GREAT….New York City has released the first 25 free solar charging stations today located in all five of the boroughs, Allowing you to charge your Phone/Tablet for FREE. This means you don’t have to constantly be on the lookout for an outlet or luging around your charger. Hit the jump to find out more!
Bloomberg and AT&T teamed up together to put these panels up and get this, AT&T is paying for all of these 25 stations part of their public-private partnership. These panels will work regardless of rain, shine, day, or night. The real reason for these panels was because when Sandy hit more than 90,000 New Yorkers were without power and had to walk miles to charge their phones. You can find these panels at Union Square in Manhattan, Governors Island, and Greene Park in Brooklyn. It is reported that more will be put out throughout the summer so stay on the lookout for a panel near you.
