Up until now, the identity of the actress playing the Wicked Witch in the new movie Oz the Great and Powerful has been under wraps, but now she’s finally been revealed…and who would have thought it was her?! She was actually very nervous to play such an iconic character, but she managed to get the part down perfectly. So who’s the beautiful lady under all the ugly green makeup? Find out below! It’s Mila Kunis!
“I’d be lying if I told you that it wasn’t incredibly frightening,” she said of taking on the role. “She [Margaret Hamilton, the original Wicked Witch] was phenomenal and did create such an iconic character for going on eighty years now. I wasn’t gonna touch it.”
Mila also revealed that she did NOT rewatch the original 1939 film after she got the part. “I didn’t want to ruin it and I didn’t want to re-create it and I didn’t want to re-interpret it,” she explained. “And so in order for me to wrap my head around it, I had to make sense of her origin.”
I will definitely be hitting the theater Friday to see this! Will you?
