While many reports had Michael Vick as good as gone from the Philadelphia Eagles, the hiring of Chip Kelly as the new head coach has people thinking otherwise. Many think Kelly’s offensive style is more suited to having Vick at quarterback and Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson is one of them. Read more after the jump.
“For sure I can see it. Now that Chip Kelly is our offensive coordinator, I mean our head coach, Michael Vick I think it’s a no-brainer to keep him here,” Jackson said Friday in an interview with the NFL Network. “It fits his playing style and what he’s done perfect.”
But playing style isn’t all the Eagles have to worry about in terms of Vick. In December, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported Vick was not willing to work with the Eagles toward restructuring his contract, which calls for him to make $15.5 million in base salary next season.
If the Eagles release Vick by Feb. 6, they won’t have to pay him the guaranteed $3 million in his deal, the report said.
Vick, 32, had 2,362 passing yards, 12 touchdowns and 10 interceptions this season, his fourth with the Eagles.
