As a Knicks fan this upsets me. I feel somewhat of a loyalty to Amare. He came to NY on his own with no superstar and made the Knicks worth at least mentioning again. He put us on his back when nobody else could do it. But things just have not worked out as expected since Carmelo arrived in NY. Read more after the jump.

It is being reported by Howard Beck of the New York Times, that over the summer the Knicks tried to trade Amare literally to almost every team in the NBA. Teams just did not want to take a chance on an aging player with a recent history of health problems, who is still owed $65 million. The closest the Knicks came to actually pulling off a trade was with the Toronto Raptors that would of sent Amare up to Toronto for Andrea Bargnani. They even tried to package Amare and Tyson Chandler together to send to Orlando for Dwight Howard, but the Magic weren’t interested. I am sure alot of fans assumed over the summer the Knicks looked into trading Stoudemire, but who knew it was to this serious level. As a fan, I just hope when he returns to the Knicks, he can fit in with the team and lead to a good season. Otherwise I have no doubt he will not be back in New York next year.
