A nurse at the UK hospital Kate Middleton was staying during pregnancy complications tragically took her own life on Friday, after being the victim of a phone prank from two radio personalities in Australia. It’s a controversial topic, as many argue that the two radio guys shouldn’t be held accountable as they could have never foreseen such drastic events transpiring as a result of their call, while on the other hand, her death was a direct result (or was it?) of their actions. Now, the family of the nurse (Jacintha Saldanha) is speaking out about it. See how they feel below.
A close friend to the family told Australia’s Herald Sun they were “very, very shocked and unhappy at the tragedy.” Then the victim’s mother-in-law Carmine Barboza told the, that her son (the victim’s husband) was “crying and couldn’t speak much.”
“More than that, we do not know about what actually happened,” Carmine told the paper. “She is dead, that’s all. Jacintha was a very caring woman. We just cannot believe what has happened.”
Her brother Naveen told Mail Online that Jacintha was a “proper and righteous person” who “would have would have felt much shame about the incident.”
Her sister-in-law Celine Barboza told the Mail that she “was a very strong person and couldn’t have taken this drastic step easily,” and the family “would like to get an answer.”
A family friend talking to the NY Daily News revealed that most of Jacintha’s family and friends are blaming the radio DJs.
“Because of them only it happened. That’s what we think,” the friend told the Daily News. “We want an investigation about what happened to my friend. She wouldn’t do that unless maybe she had some stress from the hospital. She’s a very strong person. It’s definitely stress from work.”
Who do you feel is to blame?
