We mentioned last week that they have developed 3D printed parts stronger than steele to build with. 3D printed objects and their beneficial capabilities are growing in popularity. This is definitely the coolest thing I’ve seen printed and built to date. Hit the jump to see what assault rifle they printed and fired!
The whole AR wasn’t printed, being that a high caliber chamber and head mass is needed. However the whole receiver was printed. The AR receiver is made of ABS-like Objet photopolymer material. The same kind used in commercial 3D printers, proved successful through 6 rounds until falling apart. Despite the dismemberment, this was definitely an accomplishment and progress in the 3D printing field.
