Lions’ defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh is known as one of the NFL’s most aggressive players, but a Detroit area man is alleging that he still has problems confining that aggressiveness to the football field.
A report by WJBK-TV said Dearborn police are investigating an incident that took place early Thursday morning near the Lions’ practice facility. His accuser, Steve Vines, told the television station that the defensive lineman tailgated him on a freeway exit ramp and then sideswiped his Ford Escort.
Suh then allegedly left the scene of the incident, causing Vines to follow him to the Lions’ Allen Park practice facility where a confrontation took place.
“[Suh said] ‘I advise you to leave, now.’ And I said, ‘I’m not going anywhere. I talked to the police,’ ” Vines said.
If Vines’ allegations prove to be true, it would be the third traffic-related incident for Suh since the Lions drafted him in 2010. He was involved in a one-car accident in December of 2011 while he was serving a two-game suspension for stomping on an opponent. He is being sued for more than $1 million by one of his passengers in that incident who disputes his version of the events.
Suh also was cited for speeding, improper signaling, and failure to carry proof of insurance in March after his speed was clocked at 91 mph in a 55 mph zone. Both incidents took place in his home town of Portland, Ore.
Vines, who said he is a Lions fan, wants Suh to acknowledge his actions and pay for any necessary repairs, he said.
“You were in the wrong — 110 percent in the wrong,” he said, referring to Suh. “Just own up to it. It didn’t have to come to this. I don’t want anything more. I don’t want anything less. I just want my kids’ car fixed so that I know it’s safe.”
