According to NewsChannel5.com, $100k of iPhones were stolen today. This is kind of hard to believe since this was a high profile release and security should have been stepped up unless it was an inside job.
“They just come in get what they want and get out in a very quick fashion,” says Sgt. Kyle Evans with the Murfreesboro Police Department.
The group of bandits managed to break into the Best Buy by ramming a stolen car through the back garage door. After the stolen car had broken through the garage door, surveillance footage shows the eight thieves filing in one after another wearing hooded sweatshirts and black ski masks.
“They knew exactly what they wanted to steal, how to steal them,” Sgt. Evans adds.
The thieves were in and out of the store in a matter of just three minutes.
“The entire time mind you the store manager was sitting in front of the store waiting to open up the store for another employee to come in,” Sgt. Evans explained.
The store manager, who had been at the front of the store the entire time, was alerted by the building’s security alarm company that there was a break-in in progress, but by the time he got around back, the thieves and merchandise were gone.
“This is one of the highest financial losses of a commercial burglary that Murfreesboro has seen in many years,” Sgt. Evans said about the crime.
