Their far-from-fairytale romance is finally over – Rielle Hunter revealed she and John Edwards are no longer a couple. All publicity is good publicity I guess and all of a sudden it’s over on the wake of her memoir becoming public.
Hunter told ABC’s “Good Morning America” that she and the former presidential candidate, who were in a relationship until last week, have called it quits, in the wake of details from her memoir becoming public. Along with a load of steamy details, Hunter refers to John’s first wife Elizabeth Edwards as a “witch on wheels.” in the book.
The breakup comes less than a month after John was acquitted on charges of using campaign money to hide his mistress in comfort. The illicit couple have been in the spotlight since word of the affair and the couple’ s baby killed his 2008 presidential bid. Their daughter Quinn, 4, lives with her mother.
“We are a family, but as of the end of last week John Edwards and I are no longer a couple. Not at all,” Hunter told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos on “Good Morning America.”
Hunter said she still loves Edwards despite the difficult split. “I do,” she told Stephanopolous.
And she insists he still loves her too.
“You have to ask him. I think he does,” she said, declining to elaborate on why they broke up.
“That’s private,” she said. “We decided together to end it. It’s hard. It’s painful.”
