An allegation of extreme violence is reportedly circling one member of the Los Angeles Lakers.

TMZ.com reported Monday that Lakers forward Jordan Hill has been charged with felony assault for an incident that took place in Texas in February.

Los Angeles Lakers big man Jordan Hill has just been charged with felony assault for allegedly choking a family member during an altercation in Texas earlier this year … TMZ has learned.

The charge was filed by the Harris County District Attorney in Houston. It’s unclear who Hill is accused of attacking. The alleged incident took place on February 29. If convicted, Hill faces up to 10 years in prison.

Hill was acquired by the Lakers from the Houston Rockets in exchange for guard Derek Fisher and a first round pick back in March.

Hill, 24, is in his third NBA season after being selected as a lottery pick in the 2009 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks. He’s posted season averages of 5.0 points and 4.8 rebounds in 2011-2012 and scored a season-high 14 points and grabbed a season-high 15 rebounds for the Lakers in a late-April win over the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Lakers won Game 1 of their Western Conference first round playoff series over the Denver Nuggets on Sunday. Hill scored 10 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and blocked two shots and shot 5-for-10 from the field in 24 minutes.

Game 2 is scheduled for Tuesday night at Staples Center.
