The 19-year NBA veteran represents everything the New York Knicks teams of the 90′s stood for: he played a physical, and often often times ugly style of basketball. The always outspoken Oakley joined the Jim Rome radio show on Tuesday and touched on a variety of topics.

Most notably Boston Celtics F Kevin Garnett, whom Oakley says isn’t as tough as he wants people to believe.

Garnett left Minnesota and hollered and screamed and all that but hes not a tough guy. He’s one of the weakest guys to ever play the game. He’s a complimentary player and went to Paul Pierce’s team and won a championship. I wouldn’t consider him a top 10 tough guy.

There are many who wouldn’t disagree with the notion that Garnett isn’t the toughest player in the world, but to cast him off as just a complimentary player may be a bit of an exaggeration. But Oakley wasn’t done. Unprompted, Oakley went off on TNT analyst Charles Barkley:

Barkley for his size was a good player but he’s a coward though. He was a good player for his size but, he wasn’t a leader and wasn’t a role model. Now he talks so bad about younger guys, i don’t respect that from him…He’s a fraud, he can criticize all the younger kids and if he got something to say, call them and talk to them before you just blast them. He’s wants to be funny, that whole TNT thing and all that, they’re like some clowns on that show.

There’s no doubt that the TNT crew runs what would seem to be a loose ship. With funny antics and Photoshoped images, but they are perennially on of the highest rated studio shows in all of sports. So you’d think they must be doing something right, no? Unprompted once again, Oakley criticized Oklahoma City Thunder C Kendrick Perkins.

He’s just like Garnett. They holler and complain. If Kendrick Perkins would play basketball, Oklahoma City would win a championship the next 3 or 4 years…[He brings] Nothing [to the table]. That’s why he got dunked on and he got mad about someone tweeting about it, you’re a power forward, you don’t let guys dunk on you. I played 18, 19 years I got dunked on 3 times, you’re limited on offense do something on defense, get a rebound make some free throws.

So to recap – Charles Oakley things Kevin Garnett is a fake tough guy who was a complimentary player, Charles Barkley is a coward and fraud, and Kendrick Perkins brings NOTHING to the table for the Oklahoma City Thunder. On the bright side, he does like New York Knicks point guard, Jeremy Lin.
