The Phoenix Suns signed guards Sebastian Telfair and Shannon Brown to one-year deals, and waived forward Vince Carter in an expected cost-cutting move.
Carter was due to be paid $18 million for the upcoming season and the Suns will have to pay just $4 million of that by waiving him on Friday.
Telfair has played for five teams over seven NBA seasons, most recently a second stint with Minnesota in 2010-11. He is expected to serve as a backup to point guard Steve Nash.
Brown spent the past two seasons as the backup to Kobe Bryant with the Los Angeles Lakers, posting career-high scoring averages in each after bouncing around his first three years.
Phoenix earlier re-signed swingman Grant Hill to a one-year deal.
