Well, right now I’m kinda good cause I got football, BUT I need NBA on Christmas and after the NFL season ends…so I can’t agree with this poll.
The NBA regular season was scheduled to start November 1st, but a labor dispute caused the postponement of all games till now. With one week gone we wanted to know if you are missing the NBA. The clear answer is no! in a Poll Position national telephone survey, 76% of the people we asked said they are not missing NBA games, 12% are, and 12% did not have an opinion.
Check the rest of the details and let us know what YOU think after the jump…
The labor dispute is over four months old and comes down to a disagreement over revenue sharing between players and owners. Games have been cancelled until at least December 1st. If an agreement is not reached by the end of the week more NBA games will likely be cancelled.
Young people, those aged 18-29, miss the NBA the most with 29% telling us they are missing the games, 53% said they are not and 18% had no opinion. Those in the 30-44 year old age group miss the NBA the least with 83% saying they do not miss NBA basketball compared to 7% who do, 11% had no opinion.
There was a noticeable divide between African-Americans and whites. Among African-Americans, 26% said they are missing professional basketball, 57% are not and 17% offered no opinion. Whites countered with 83% saying they do not miss the NBA to only 8% who say they do, with 9% not having an opinion.
Among men, 72% did not miss the start of the regular NBA season while 15% did. Women differed just slightly with 80% saying they do not miss NBA basketball, compared to only 8% who do.
Poll Position’s scientific telephone survey of 1,179 registered voters nationwide was conducted November 6, 2011 and has a margin of error of ±3%.
