A day after wrangling over the time of President Obama’s highly anticipated jobs speech, John Boehner announced a save the date for his own big talk on the economy. Hit the jump to read the rest of the story.
@WiL
The House speaker will make his address exactly one week after Obama delivers his speech to the nation.
The two publicly feuded Wednesday over the date of the president’s speech.
Obama originally wanted to address Congress on Sept. 7 – the same night as a GOP presidential debate. Boehner rejected the president’s request – the first time that’s publicly happened in U.S. history – and Obama acceded to speak Sept. 8 instead.
Obama’s speech could include measures for economic growth, like tax credits and infrastructure spending. He’s also expected to detail plans for shrinking the deficit.
Boehner made a major address on the economy in May at the Economic Club of New York, in which he detailed conditions for raising the debt-ceiling limit.
