Yankees first baseman, Mark Teixeira, announced his retirement from baseball today effective at the end of the season and as you might expect, he got very emotional while speaking. “I got to live out my dream,” said Teixeira, who has hit 404 career home runs and won a World Series with the Yankees in 2009. The announcement comes as somewhat of a surprise as he had mentioned he hoped to play five more years during spring training this year.

This is pretty foul on the part of the Yankees but this is what we should expect from them considering their history. They don’t like players who draw extra attention to themselves. They want their players to act according to how the franchise wants them to be, which is low key and quiet. They do not embrace players who express themselves and that has been that way pretty much their entire history. With that said as spring training is getting underway they are warning players to be more like the reserved and humble Russell Wilson and less like the flamboyant and emotional Cam Newton.

MLB: Congrats! Yankees End Playoff Drought With 10,000th Regular Season Victory

Well damn! 10,000 wins is alot of games but what else would you expect from possibly the most recognized franchise in all of sports. The Bronx Bombers clinched a playoff spot for the first time in three years and the 52nd time overall Thursday night, beating the Boston Red Sox 4-1 at Yankee Stadium. The same win also gave them their 10,000th win as a franchise in the regular season.
