(Video) J. Cole Gives Heartfelt Speech Honoring Nas At Vibe Impact Awards; Calls Him His Idol

Nas was the man of the hour last night as he was honored during the Vibe Impact Awards. Guests at the event included Swizz Beatz, Busta Rhymes, Q-Tip and more. But the most poignant moment of the night was when J. Cole gave heartfelt speech about the impact Nas has had on his life and career, even going as far as to name the legendary MC his idol. Check out the clip below the jump.

Nas To Be Honored At VIBE’s Second Annual ‘Impact Awards’

Ready to feel old? Illmatic‘s 20th anniversary is this April. 20 YEARS, BRUH! In an homage to the classic album and the iconic rapper responsible for it, VIBE will be honoring Nas at their second annual Impact Awards, a private, invite-only affair going down January 24th in L.A. “[Illmatic is] arguably hip-hop’s most flawless piece of work,” VIBE’s Editor-in-Chief Jermaine Hall said. “Nas’ ability to clearly capture his surroundings in song is a special talent.”

(Photo) Kevin Hart Covers Vibe Magazine & Talks Racism In Hollywood

As an alternate to Drizzy’s cover, the hilarious Kevin Hart too covers VIBE magazine’s WINTER 2014 issue. Stand-ups, movies and more – Kevin Hart had an extraordinary year. Even after he was turned down as host for the Oscars – LOL – that hasn’t stopped anything. In the mind of Kevin, he’d like to think that being a black man in his industry has nothing to do with it. The little guy with a huge career informs Vibe that he pays no attention to racism. If it’s even come his way, he simply turns the other cheek. “I don’t welcome negative energy,” Kevin says. “The time it takes to harbor, reap, bitch and complain is time that you can be doing something else. Have I gotten into situations with people that could have been racist? Of course, I am human. I’m a young black guy in Hollywood. You chalk it up and you move on.” Doesn’t sound like a, ‘MITCH’ to me. A person who isn’t racist still knows a racist joke or two. “There was a meme on Instagram of a black man lying on the curb with a bucket of fried chicken and grape soda, with a bag of Cheetos at his feet that said, ‘Black Man OD.’ I thought that was pretty funny.” This guy will be categorized as one of the greats

Drake Announces He’ll Be Dropping Up To FIVE Unreleased Records Before 2014

He just released his third album Nothing Was The Same earlier this fall, but Drake already has more music for fans to bump to for 2013. Similar to how he dropped multiple ‘just because’ records in June as the prelude to NTWS, Drizzy will follow the same formula for December. “Not an EP, but maybe a blog thing like how I did ‘Versace,’ ‘The Motion,’ all those in one night,” Drake told Vibe. “I’ll probably do ‘Trophies’ and three or four other records.” Among the records, he says, could quite possily be the “Wu-Tang Forever” remix as well. Can’t wait!
