(Video) Boxing: Floyd Mayweather Discusses Why He Won’t Fight Triple G & Who He Prefers Instead

On Saturday, Floyd Mayweather revealed that he’s been in talks with Showtime and CBS about possibly coming out of retirement.  He even went a step further as Mayweather Promotions filed trademarks for “TMT 50” and “TBE 50”, leading many to believe that he would un-retire and do his 50th fight after retiring at 49-0.  With all this speculation, the biggest question is who will he fight against?  The name most people want to see is Gennady Golovkin aka Triple G (35-0, 32 KOs), the current unified WBA, IBF, and IBO middleweight champion.  But Mayweather says that fight isn’t happening.

Floyd Mayweather is personally responding to the talk coming from Gennady Golovkin, aka Triple G! Golovkin started running his mouth last week about being able to destroy Floyd Mayweather in a clear attempt to get his name mentioned as a possible opponent for Floyd. In the boxing game everyone wants to get a piece of the empire Floyd built for himself because fighting Floyd pretty much guarantees the biggest payday of your career. Golovkin is a hell of a fighter, knocking out his last 20 opponents, but that still doesn’t mean he has done enough in his career to earn a big money fight over some other guys.

The 42-year-old Golden Boy Oscar De La Hoya was leaving the Belasco Theater in L.A. when we asked how he felt about being called out by Shane Mosley and Roy Jones Jr. After thinking about it for a second he mentions that he seriously thinks of returning for one more fight almost everyday, but he must have been hit too many times because the opponent he mentions he just is not ready for at this stage in life.
