Today would have been Michael Jackson’s 53rd birthday. Michael Joseph Jackson was born in Gary, Indiana to Katherine and Joe Jackson. After seeing the undeniable singing talent that his sons possessed, Joe took his sons and their band all over the country until the boys were signed. The signing of The Jackson 5, which young Michael sharing the lead vocals with his older brother Jermaine, the Jacksons became a household name. It was clear that at even such a young age, Michael was destined to become a star. In 1978 Quincy Jones agreed to produced Michael’s fourth solo effort called Off The Wall. Off The Wall not only broke records, but launched the new career of Michael Jackson as the King Of Pop. Before his untimely death on June 25, 2009, Michael single handled ruled as the King of Pop, topping music charts every, breaking existing records, and even creating new ones. On the day Michael died, the world lost one of the greatest, if not the greatest, singer/entertainer of all times. (Video) #IFWT Remembers The Life Of DJ AM

Today marks the 2nd anniversary of DJ AM’s tragic death. AM, whose real name was Adam Michael Goldstein, was a DJ, TV show host, record producer and a self-proclaimed sneaker head. AM was a member of rock band Crazy Town, worked with artists such as Blink 182/Travis Barker, Will Smith, Papa Roach, and Madonna. AM was found dead in his New York City apartment from a drug overdose. AM, who had spent time in rehab for drug addiction, had relapsed after a plane crash on September 19, 2008 in which he lost a friend and almost died. AM sustained severe burns to his hands and head, but eventually made a full recovery. After taking time off from DJing after the plane crash, AM returned to the ones and twos during a Jay-Z concert. #IFWT Remembers The Life Of Emmett Till

On August 28, 1955 a 14-year-old boy named Emmett Till was murdered in Mississippi for supposedly flirting with a white woman. Till, who was raised in Chicago, was visiting his family in Mississippi when he spoke to a 21-year-old woman whose husband owned a grocery store.  A few nights later Roy Bryant and his half brother J. W. Milam kidnapped Till, beat him badly, took out one of Till’s eyes, shot him through the head, and dumped his body in the Tallahatchie River. Till’s body was found three days later with cotton gin fan tied around his neck with barbed wire. Read more about Emmett Till after the jump. @Julie1205
