Just last month, the world was shocked by the news of the death of music icon David Bowie. Bowie had suffered from cancer for 18 months prior to his death and passed away just days after his 69th birthday. As the 2016 Grammys are just around the corner it seems only right that organizers plan a tribute to the rock legend. In an interview with the New York Times, longtime Grammy producer Ken Ehrlich revealed that after taking some time to deliberate, Lady Gaga will preform the tribute to David Bowie. Gaga was already a part of this year’s performance line up and will put on the six to seven minute tribute. According to Ehrlich the tribute is set to pay tribute to Bowie’s influence on the music world, but also fashion and pop culture. Read more below.
A$AP Yams Tribute Concert ‘Yams Day’ Announced With A$AP Rocky, Joey Bada$$ and More
January 18 marks one year since we lost the A$AP Mob’s visionary, A$AP Yams. In his memory that day, Rocky and the crew will be kicking off the inaugural A$AP Yams tribute concert, Yams Day. Going down at Terminal 5 in Yams’ hometown of NYC, the show will include performances from the entire Mob (Rocky included,) as well as Joey Bada$$, Lil Uzi and more to be announced. I truly hope at least some of the members of Dipset will be in attendance, seeing as though Yams got his start with them as in intern, and he always named them as some of his biggest influences. Kendrick Lamar Pays Tribute To Eazy-E In An Open Letter
Paper Magazine is paying homage to those rappers that paved the way for hip-hop by sharing open letters written by today’s artists. Kendrick Lamar who also recently shared a letter dedicated to Tupac, payed tribute the late rapper Eazy-E sharing the influence the N.W.A rapper had, saying, “I wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for Eazy.” In addition to Kendrick Lamar, in upcoming features, fellow rappers Eminem and Swizz Beats will also share their thoughts and feelings about fallen rappers and how they were influenced by them.
