Tinashe Announces ‘Joyride’ World Tour
Although there’s no release date Tinashe’s sophomore album Joyride, the singer just announced that she will embarking on a world tour to support the forthcoming album. The tour is set to kick off at the end of February in Minneapolis. Tinashe will then travel around the US and then head overseas in the spring before wrapping up in Japan and Australia at the end of May. Tickets go on sale January 15th. This is so strange. A fan was watching Whoopi Goldberg’s 1991 Christmas film Call Me Claus, when they noticed a very young Tinashe! However, her skin was many shades darker than it is today, and upon further inspection, they realized they’d put the mixed-race singer in blackface! What in the world? They later asked Tinashe about it on Twitter, and she replied: “Lol I was cast as an actress. Don’t ask me why they chose to hire me tho & the makeup was LOL” So many questions! Why didn’t they simply cast an actress with a darker skintone if that’s what they really wanted? Why did the makeup artist not get her neck if they were really committing? Why did her parents allow this? SMH!

I don’t know what it is about Tinashe, but I really love this girl! I’ve been rooting for her for a while now, and I hope that her latest single “Player” (featuring Chris Brown) takes off the way “2 On” did for her. Much like her peers – Ty Dolla $ign with “Paranoid”, TeeFLii with “24 Hours,” etc., the LA singer has not been able to recreate the success she saw with her breakout single, despite putting out quality work since then. Will this be the one? Time will tell! In the meantime, watch her make you fall in love with the track as she looked effortlessly amazing performing it on The Tonight Show last night, below.
