Birdman VEVO Birdman says he’s dropping Lil Wayne’s long overdue and highly anticipated album Tha Carter V, this year. Think it will hold up?
The first snippet we get from Tha Carter V is here! Coming soon ???
BirdmanVEVO In new Birdman/Weezy news, the father of Cash Money gives a little bit of hope to Wayne’s dedicated fans by saying his long overdue album, Tha Carter V, will see the light of day soon.
Yesterday, January 3, Lil Wayne took to his official Facebook page to share a photo that is likely from the huge party at LIV on New Year’s Day. The caption, however, is what has people talking. With merely three words, Weezy has his fans over-the-moon, thinking he’s hinting that we’ll finally be getting some new music from him soon. “CV. Funeral. D6,” he wrote, which for those not in-the-know stands for the LONG overdue Carter V album, the project Funeral he recently announced in an interview and Dedication 6, the sixth installment in his popular mixtape series with DJ Drama.
It’s been exactly two years since Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter V was supposed to be released, and it’s still nowhere to be found. Well, that was until this weekend, when infamous P.O.S. pharmaceutical exec Martin Shkreli seemingly got his hands on it! Taking to Periscope, the owner of the 1-of-1 Wu-Tang album promised followers that he had gotten his hands on another elusive hip-hop album, and after a while of teasing and bragging, revealed it was none other than C5. To back up his claims, he previewed some tracks on the live stream…tracks which Wayne’s camp have confirmed to TMZ are the real deal.
Looks like Lil Wayne and Birdman started the year off right! As you know, the pair have been feuding for over a year now, after Wayne revealed in the fall of 2014 that there were issues with money and it was delaying the release of his next album, Tha Carter V. Over 14 months, two sub-par mixtapes, a free album via TIDAL (that Birdman sued Hov over), a potential plot to have Wayne killed and tons of Cash Money shots in Wayne’s music later and we still don’t have C5…but it looks like 2016 just may bring us the long-awaited project! Taking to Instagram last night, Mack Maine shared photos from Drake’s NYE concert (who also was rumored to have friction with the YMCMB camp,) showing Birdman and Wayne finally back together! 2 Chainz was in the mix as well. “Happy New Year ya heard me!!!” Mack wrote. “Yea that’s Stunna yea that’s Tune yea that’s 2Chainz yea that Hood yea that’s T@ yea that’s Mack yea 2 da yea love 2 da love!!!! #FamilyLiveAtDrakePartyHePerformingRightNow” So glad these two finally put their differences to the side!
