Most basketball and streetball fans from around New York City and the tri-state area tend to think they can only see great action on the court at a few parks. Rucker Park in Harlem comes to mind, as well as the Dyckman summer league uptown and even the leagues downtown at the West 4th courts. But there is a place that has been supplying action just as good if not better for years now and it has been the best kept secret in New York until now. Sports:(Video) This Is Why The NBA Dunk Contest Has Been Trash
The NBA needs to seriously consider letting ball players from outside the league compete in the dunk contest during all star weekend. The contest has definitely lost the hype that it had for years. Sure, every year there might be one dunk or two that makes you gasp, but overall every all star weekend is a disappointment as far as that is concerned. Despite being extremely athletic, some of the current NBA players just can’t get up and complete the dunks that they think they can when that pressure is on. But dudes like Werm, JusFly & Young Hollywood, people I am sure most of you have never heard of, would win a NBA dunk contest over players in the league. Sports:(Video) Memorial Game For NYC Streetball Legend Alimoe
Yesterday streetball fans from the New York area came out to Harlem for the first annual memorial game to show their love and respect for NYC streetball legend Tyrone Evans, aka Alimoe. He passed away earlier this year at way too early of an age. Dude was extremely talented and could do alot of things on the court, especially for his size. From the looks of the video it appears there was a nice crowd on hand for the event and that is exactly how it should of been. RIP Alimoe. Check out some footage of the legend after the jump.
