With all the negativity in the headlines, it’s nice to see an athlete be acknowledged for doing something great. Slam Dunk champion Zach LaVine used his winnings to help a deaf school.

If you are one of those people who complains that the NBA dunk contest just isn’t what it used to be, well after last night you better change your tone! Even though the biggest superstar names weren’t in the contest, both Zach LaVine & Aaron Gordon put on a show that would remind you of the best dunks during all star weekend over the years.
Zach LaVine dominated the NBA All-Star Dunk Contest this year so what happened when he casually showed up as a surprise contestant for the Seattle Pro-Am dunk contest? Well… he killed it!
For the first time in a while, NBA fans can say All Star Saturday night is back! After a immensely deep field in the three point contest didn’t disappoint us, we had to wonder would we get another crappy dunk contest to cap the night? It started off shaky with the first two dunkers, but then Victor Oladipo and Zach Lavine saved the night. Oladipo set it off with a dope 540 degree dunk that brought the crowd to their feet and rightly so! But then Zach Lavine shut down all hope of anyone else winning besides himself with some of the best dunks in YEARS!!
There was a lot of controversy over Blake Griffin’s 2011 Slam Dunk Contest win. He had a lot of theatrics including a choir and jumped over a car (a Kia, the car company he’s paid to endorse). People discounted it because he jumped over the hood and not the top of the car. Well regardless of what you think, that’s all we’re going to see from Griffin because the high flying Lob City member says he’ll never do the contest again.
