One day after a mother was shot dead in front of the White House, a man set himself on fire at the National Mall. The incident occurred around 4:30 pm today on 7th Street and Jefferson Drive, where smoke could be seen emerging from the self immolating man. Joggers rushed to put the fire out, ripping off their shirts to beat out the flames. The man was taken to Medstar Washington Hospital, where doctors said he suffered from burns on 80% of his body. Allegedly, another unidentified man is involved in the incident and filmed the act. Police are unsure if it was a staged protest. To see the news coverage from National Mall, click below.
