With the San Francisco 49ers jumping into the race for Peyton Manning’s services, free-agent quarterback Alex Smith is making a play of his own.  Smith is in Miami to visit Sunday with the Dolphins.  If Smith does indeed sign with the Dolphins and Peyton Manning goes to the 49ers this could be huge for San Francisco.  They already have an arsenal and adding Manning to the mix makes them Super Bowl favorites.  Read more after the jump. @Shay_Marie x @gametimegirl

Former Giants WR Mario Manningham signed a 2-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers. Â It saddens me to write this although I already knew he was leaving. Â Manningham caught an amazing catch during the Super Bowl that set up the game winning touchdown. Â It would turn out to be Manningham’s last win with the Giants and ironically he’s leaving us to join the team he helped beat on the way to the Super Bowl. NFL: 49ers Comeback After Being Down 20 & Defeat the Eagles
When the San Francisco 49ers finally let Alex Smith air it out, he outdid Michael Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles. Â Chucking its conservative approach in the second half, the 49ers surged back from a 20-point hole and beat the Eagles 24-23 on Sunday. Â The “dreamteam” is now 1-3. NFL: The 49ers, the NFL, and the Mayor All Release Statements About Candlestick Shootings
The San Francisco 49ers, the NFL, and the mayors of San Francisco and Oakland all released statements today related to the numerous violent incidents that took place at or near Candlestick Park Saturday evening during and after the 49ers-Raiders game. There were reportedly two shootings and several other attacks, which the police are currently investigating.
