A few weeks ago, we learned that Samsung just may be buying into Jay-z’s Tidal. Samsung has now responded saying they will not be purchasing the company.
Just months after hitting one million subscribers, it has been reported that TIDAL may be taken over by Samsung. The music streaming service, which was purchased by mogul, Jay Z last year for $56 million and has several artist owners is currently in negations with Samsung to take over. TIDAL is currently worth $100 million and is home to about 2.5 million subscribers. According to sources at the New York Post, “Samsung is re-engaging; they are working on something really big, and they’re keeping it very quiet in case it leaks.” This is not the first time Jay Z has partnered with Samsung. Back in 2013, he released ‘Magna Carta Holy Grail’ in a deal with Samsung that included one million free downloads of the album for fans. Rihanna did something similar just a few weeks ago with her ‘ANTI’ album. Samsung is just one company with hopes to purchase TIDAL. Sources indicate that Spotify and Google are also interested.
