The way the murder of former NFL player Joe McKnight is being handled has many people wondering how in the hell is the man who shot McKnight, Ronald Gasser, free right now with no charges. Police have defended their reasoning for releasing him, saying that for now they don’t have any reason to detain him further. They do confirm that he did in fact shoot and kill McKnight but it’s feeling like they are starting to lean towards a self defense, or “stand your ground” justification, despite at least two separate witnesses saying Gasser shot McKnight as he was trying to apologize and then shot him again as he lay on the ground and he stood over him. This whole thing is just disgusting and now we find out that Gasser has a history of road rage incidents and was even arrested for it back in 2006 and the same exact intersection where he killed McKnight.
Police in New Orleans just released 54 year old Ronald Gasser, the man who shot and killed former NFL player Joe McKnight yesterday. As of now, he has not been charged with any crime, although that could still change.
