Rita Ora has filed a lawsuit against Roc Nation and its owner Jay Z, as she feels her label has done nothing to help her career since signing her at the age of 18 in 2008. In the complaint filed today, Rita says she was “orphaned” by the company when they birthed Roc Nation Sports and took on other endeavors. “Rita’s remaining supporters at the label left or moved on to other activities, to the point where she no longer had a relationship with anyone at the company,” the complaint reads. Despite her celebrity status and singles like “Body On Me” with Chris Brown, Rita has never put out an album in the United States – something she blames on her label’s doing. Since she signed in 2008, Rita is citing California’s “seven year rule” that ends personal service contracts. “Rita’s relationship with Roc Nation is irrevocably damaged,” the complaint continues.
