After being held in Rikers following his December arrest, rapper Bobby Shmurda has been moved to protective custody at the Manhattan Detention Complex in lower Manhattan while awaiting trial. Obviously this is in Bobby’s best interest, as often times, fame makes you a target by fellow inmates. As for an update on his case, separate gun charges from Bobby’s arrest back in June, as well as a separate weed case in December, were combined into the Office of the Special Prosecutor’s case against him earlier this week. After The Department Of Health conducted a study within the Riker’s Island correctional facility reports are alleging that 129 inmates have suffered beatings at the hand of officers and 77 of them are mentally ill.
Rikers Island Crackdown Leads To The Arrest Of Two Guards!!
During a major sweep of Rikers Island, officials found both weed and coke stashed in the backpacks of two of the prison’s guards. Maybe “Orange Is The New Black” sparked the thought of a sweep, but no one was safe from the city Department of Investigation’s sweep of Rikers, as they looked for drugs, weapons and contraband. Back in 2010, Lil Wayne did an 8-month bid at Rikers Island in New York, serving time for a gun charge he’d gotten in NYC in 2007. During his time there, he was locked up with a guy by the name of Devar Hurd…who was imprisoned for STALKING ASHANTI! Here’s the deal on that: Devar, a Chicago native who was in his early 30’s at the time, met ‘Shan at a gig back in 2009, and acquired her momager’s number under the guise of ‘doing business.’ From there, he began sending her explicit texts and D pics, which he would later claim were for her daughter. (Caught On Tape) Crazy Brawl Went Down On Riker’s Island!!
It got real at Riker’s Island, but what else is new? This time, it’s on tape. Recently, an intense fight broke out in the infamous prison that involved about 50 inmates and went on for hours. And get this, it was all over a grilled cheese sandwich! Members of a Dominican gang –the Trinitarians– apparently got into it with members of the Crips after they didn’t allow them to use a hot plate to cook. Hit the jump and check it out.
