Hurricane Sandy caused BILLIONS of dollars in damage to a major chunk of the east coast, with New York and New Jersey getting it the worst. Luckily, we are receiving aide from ALL over, with even President Obama making our safety and rebuilding a priority. Now, some of the biggest stars from the impacted states are banding together for a relief telethon, Hurricane Sandy: Coming Together. The special will feature Jersey’s Bon Jovi, Staten Island, NY-born/PA bred Christina Aguilera, Long Island, NY’s Billy Joel and many more. The show, hosted by Today’s Matt Lauer, will air on NBC, Bravo, CNBC, E!, G4, MSNBC, Style, Syfy and USA, and will be streamed live on NBC.com, from 8 to 9pm this Friday. Kim Kardashian was one of the many Hollywood stars to attend the Cinema for Peace Event Benefiting J/P Haitian Relief on Saturday night. Other celebs at the fundraiser included Demi Moore with daughter Rumer Willis, Mel Gibson, Julia Roberts, Leonardo DiCaprio, Josh Brolin and wife Diane Lane, Bill Maher and Melanie Griffith. White House Submits Disaster Aid Package Request
The White House has submitted it’s disaster aid package request. The White House is requesting $5.1 billion for this year and next to refill the disaster relief fund. Because of Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee, the government is speculating that funds could run out by the end of this year. Read more after the jump. @Julie1205
