One half of Mobb Deep, Prodigy, and Universal Music Group have been going at it over royalty disputes as of late. Prodigy claimed the record label has not him paid what he’s been owed, so he sued for back royalties, accusing the label of skimming revenue from his solo work. Adele’s “Hello” Video Breaks Vevo’s Record For Most Views In 24 Hours
Congratulations, Adele! Just last week Adele dropped her new single “Hello.” The highly-anticipated comeback single sent fans into a frenzy as it was the first song released by the British singer in three years! Fans were so excited for the release of the song and the video that it was watched 27.7 million times in just a 24 hour period. This broke Vevo’s record for “most views in 24 hours” knocking out Taylor Swift’s 20.1 million views for Bad Blood. The single “Hello” is expected to land in the number one spot on the Billboard charts next week, and the album 25 is already doing crazy numbers. Reports indicate that the upcoming album has already racked up 200,000 units on iTunes in preorders. The album will be available November 20th in stores and online. Congratulations, Ed Sheeran! Ed Sheeran has just set a major Spotify record. The English crooner has just become the first artist to reach 500 million plays on Spotify for a single song. Sheeran’s hit single, “Thinking Out Loud” from his x album is the first to get half a billion streams. Sheeran was excited to learn of the news. He said, Chuffed to hear that ‘Thinking Out Loud’ has had half a billion plays on Spotify,” he continued, “Being the first artist to hit that milestone is amazing.” He later added, “Thanks to all the people who use this as a wedding song, soundtrack to a date, and as a way to woo someone into a Netflix and chill situation.” LOL!
