Jon Connor, one of the artists IFWT said to watch out for in 2012, officially signed to Dr. Dre’s Aftermath label earlier this month while taping the BET Hip-Hop Awards (that aired last night.) Sitting down with MTV, the Michigan native discussed how the deal came about and why he chose to announce it like he did. Congrats again!


Dropped? Hmm! The Game Confirms He’s No Longer With Interscope Records

The Game was introduced to the world via Interscope Records back in 2004, and 5 albums later, it looks like the relationship has run its course. In a new interview with Larry King, the Compton rapper revealed he’s no longer with the label, adding that he’s a “free agent.” Where do you think he’ll go next? I’m sure it won’t be G-Unit! LOL.


Guess Who Has Officially Left Wiz Khalifa’s Taylor Gang Imprint!

This is rather surprising! Taylor Gang no longer has a first lady, nor an in-house producer. Talking to XXL Magazine recently, TGOD’s CEO Wiz Khalifa revealed both Lola Monroe and Cardo had left the label. “After years of helping build their careers, we did not feel as if the relationships were mutually beneficial,” Wiz said in a statement. “We wish LoLa and Cardo the best, but hope they move on in their respective directions without affiliating themselves to the Taylor Gang brand or name.” Hmm! Sounds a little tense, as if there may be some bad blood? What do you guys think?


Congrats! Harry Fraud Launches “Surf School Recordings” Label Through Priority Records

Major congrats to the homie Harry Fraud! The “Shot Caller” producer has inked a deal with Priority Records for his label, Surf School Recordings. Jason Iley Named President Of Roc Nation

Jay-Z’s Roc Nation imprint announced today that they have named Jason Iley as President of the label. Jason comes to the Roc from Mercury Records in the U.K., where he served as President there as well, before stepping down in March. “Jason has a vision that extends beyond the status quo,” Jay-Z said in a statement. “He’s innovative, has an ear for what’s ‘next’ and sees past mundane, by-the-numbers marketing.” “Jay-Z is not only a great artist but also has the sharpest business mind in entertainment,” Iley said. “And I’m delighted to join [president] Jay Brown, Tyran “Ty Ty” Smith and the rest of the Roc Nation team in the biggest music market in the world.”


Jenni Rivera’s Family Launches Record Label In Her Honor

Following Jenni Rivera’s tragic death late last year, her family has launched a new record label in her honor. Prior to her passing, Jenni always expressed interested in supporting and signign Latino singers. The label, JRE/Divina Music, is L.A. based, and had already been in the works since 2010 by Rivera.
