One eyewitness caught a terrifying helicopter crash on video near USS Arizona Memorial visitor center at Pearl Harbor. According to reports, the helicopter crashed around 10:30AM on Thursday (February 18th). The chopper was property of Genesis Aviation Helicopter Tours, which gives 45-minute tours to passengers offering, “a rare opportunity to get an aerial perspective of Pearl Harbor’s Battleship.” Five passengers were on board of the helicopter when it when down in ten feet of water. All five survived the crash, although one passenger, a 16-year-old boy, was hospitalized in critical condition. Watch the clip below.
IFWT Remembers Pearl Harbor On 71st Anniversary Of The Attack
71 years ago today, the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor killing 2,390 service members and 49 civilians. Many gathered today not only in Pearl Harbor, but other places to remember those who passed and 50 survivors who survived the attack. The Japanese surprised attack on December 1, 1941 happened at about 7:55 a.m. and launched the United States into World War II. The USS Michael Murphy, which was named after a Pearl Harbor based soldier who was killed in Afghanistan, sailed pasted the wreckage of USS Arizona as crew members and sounded their whistle at 7:55 a.m. RIP to all the lives that were lost that day, we continue to try to keep their memory alive by remembering their lives and death on the anniversary of the horrific attacks.
