October’s Very Own Drake celebrates his 28th year on planet earth today, and we’re wishing him the happiest of birthdays ever! To kick off his b-day festivities, Drizzy came out on stage during his OVO artist PARTYNEXTDOOR’s concert at SOBs in New York city last night and then hosted his official after-party at Dave & Buster’s in Times Square. Thus far, it looks like the Champagne Papi is having quite the birthday! Wishing you many more, Aubrey!
Drake likes to root for winning teams and programs, well besides the Raptors, although to be fair they are a pretty decent franchise now. He has been a supporter of coach John Calipari and the University of Kentucky basketball team for some time now and showed them some love at the Midnight Madness opening to the season. Drake was the master of ceremonies and pulled out his old lint brush to start the night and then proceeded to entertain the crowd, but his air-balls he was shooting from three point land may of entertained them just the same. Hopefully he can pick up some skills from the kids on the team. Hit the jump.
Before they jetted off to St. Martin to work on a music video (and boo love, of course) Drake and his OVO crew celebrated with their longtime friend P. Reign for the release of his new EP and mixtape of the same name, Dear America. Both were released a few weeks back, but the Toronto rapper was finally able to celebrate last week, and did so with Drizzy, PARTYNEXTDOOR, OB and more at Tdot’s Lost & Found. Check out footage from the night below and pics in the gallery!
In a recent exclusive interview with HipHopDX the new OVO signee revealed that “I am working on a reissue of my EP,” and he hopes “to drop projects with other artists around the top of the year.” The EP, which features the original of his hit single “Club Going Up On A Tuesday,” drove massive attention when Makonnen received co-signs from the likes of Miley Cyrus and Drake. But, Im guessing he is only expecting a bigger outcome this time around!
