When Dwight Howard chose to join the Houston Rockets their starting center Omer Asik reportedly requested a trade.  Asik did not want to come off the bench as Howard’s backup.  The Rockets devised a plan to possibly have Howard and Asik run the floor together at the 4 and 5 position.  They held their media day yesterday and of course Asik was asked about the current situation.  Read more after the jump.

When superstar free agent Dwight Howard chose to go to the Houston Rockets, center Omer Asik requested a trade.  The big man didn’t want to be apart of the Rockets second unit.  The Rockets however toyed with the idea of playing Howard at the power forward position and keeping Asik in as the starting center.  Well that’s unlikely to actually happen and an Asik trade could be pending.  Read more after the jump.

Dwight Howard was a huge pickup for the Houston Rockets fulfilling their need for more size and post presence.  They did however already have Omer Asik who’s been steadily improving.  Asik was reportedly upset about the addition of Howard and wanted to be traded rather than be a backup.  The trade never happened and Asik remains on the team and it looks like the Rockets have found another solution.  Read more after the jump.
