NBA: Carmelo Anthony Points to James Dolan & Tells Heckler to Ask For His Money Back

Whatever optimism New York Knicks fans had, has dissipated quickly.  They’ve lost 15 of 18, with its past two games by an average of 18 points, including a 104-85 loss to the Portland Trailblazers on Tuesday night.  During the blowout, one fan made his frustrations known by heckling Carmelo Anthony throughout the night.  Anthony had a simple solution, he told the heckler to ask for his money back.

Jeremy Lin went from an undrafted unknown player to a household name after breaking out during the 2011-12 season with the New York Knicks.  With Carmelo Anthony injured, Lin rose to the occasion, becoming the new star of the team and even earning the name Linsanity.  When Anthony returned, there were reports that he didn’t like Lin and that the two couldn’t play together. After just 35 games with the Knicks, the Houston Rockets offered Lin a three-year, $25 million contract with a “poison pill” that Knicks decided not to match.  Lin and Anthony’s former teammate Amar’e Stoudemire, who now plays for the Miami Heat, commented on the situation prior to his return to Madison Square Garden on Sunday.

New York Knicks fans became optimistic about this season after seeing the production of rookie Kristaps Porzingis, but as the season progressed, it became clear that there’s still a lot of work left to be done.  On Sunday night “Let’s Go Heat” chants broke out in Madison Square Garden as Miami blew out the Knicks 98-81.  During his postgame interview, Carmelo Anthony expressed his disappointment over the chants.

It was clear that Derek Fisher was not getting the job done and he would be fired eventually but shockingly the Knicks announced his release on Monday, in the middle of the 2015-16 season.  Assistant coach Kurt Rambis will serve as the interim coach.  While he’s auditioning for the job permanently, discussions have already begun as to who will be the Knicks next coach.  Former Chicago Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau reportedly covets the job but it won’t simply be handed to him for several reasons.
