I must admit I never saw this coming and it’s still hard to watch. Former running back Brandon Jacobs, who was a beast on the field is now trying his hand at acting and wants to make a career of it. The project is called “The Grievance Group” — in which Jacobs plays the leader of a militant army trying to protect his community. He’s pretty bad ass … he yells at a bunch of people, fights a guy in army fatigues and (pretends) to fire an heavy duty machine gun.We spoke with the film’s directer Rob Hawk who tells us they started shooting the flick about 7 months ago in New Jersey — and he’s almost finished with production. Hawk says the movie will open in 20 theaters on the East Coast in September and hopes it expands from there. As for Brandon, we’re told he’s got a real interest in acting — and hopes this role can springboard his action career.
TMZ is famous for their paparazzi skills but decided to give a star a chance behind the camera. They handed the camera over to NY Giants cornerback Prince Amukamara and let him interview San Antonio Spurs champion Danny Green.
Some players in sports just never learn. No substance or drug is worth your career and potentially millions of dollars. New York Giants safety Will Hill was suspended today for the first six games of the 2014 season and the team intends to release him upon the suspension being completed. Hill has failed three drug tests since 2012, and he lost an appeal for the latest infraction. He will be eligible to return to game action on Oct. 13. He was suspended for violating the performance-enhancers policy two years ago, missing four games. He missed the first four games last season because of a substance abuse violation. The worst thing is when he is on the field he can legit help a team, but he just can’t seem to get focused on the right things.
The New York Giants expect Eli Manning to be fully healed from his ankle surgery before training camp gets underway. Still, he will miss most, or even all, of their spring workouts while recovering. That means the Giants need to find some veteran help at quarterback to help bridge the gap while Manning gets right.
Hakeem Nicks told reporters last month, “I still consider myself one of the top receivers in this league, and I’m going to go out and prove it.” That isn’t likely to happen with the New York Giants.
