The Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Detroit Pistons 106-101, taking a 1-0 lead in the first round playoff series. After the first quarter of that game, during a sideline interview, Lisa Salters referred to Stan Van Gundy previously talking to his players about their emotions and not getting frustrated; she then asked him how are they doing with that. SVG said a couple calls upset them and then said, “LeBron is LeBron. They’re not going to call offensive fouls on him, he gets to do what he wants. They have to understand that.” Later during the presser Van Gundy tried to backtrack off those comments but it was too late, it was already said. Today the NBA announced they fined Van Gundy $25,000 for criticizing the referees.
Markieff Morris has not been shy in the least to display his displeasure with the Phoenix Suns after they traded his twin brother Marcus Morris to the Detroit Pistons. Markieff went so far as to publicly declare on Twitter that he will not stay in Phoenix. Well that cost him a pretty penny.
After Game 3, Dallas coach Rick Carlisle was upset about how physical the series with the Rockets had become. He vented those frustrations during the postgame presser and was hit with a whopping fine. When asked about the referees after game 4, he MADE sure he didn’t make the same mistake again.
The Golden State Warriors beat the Los Angeles Clippers 106-98 on Sunday. Warriors forward Draymond Green had a game-high 23 points and was given the nationwide post game interview on ABC. During that interview, Clippers guard Dahntay Jones walked by Green and looked to have intentionally bumped him. Green fired off on Jones with a bevy of insults during his locker room interview and said he expected the bump to be reviewed by the NBA. Well they did review it and Jones will have to pay, literally.
