Popular streetwear brand BLVCK SCVLE took a trip down memory lane with their latest capsule collection, paying homage to the legacy of Detroit’s legendary Motown Records. The collection is perfectly timed for fall weather with hoodies, tees and snapbacks, with pieces featuring the distinctive Motown logo, as well as images and concert hall marquees from Diana Ross, Rick James, The Temptations and more. It’s been a pretty good year for Ethiopia Habtemariam. Following the reestablishment of Universal Music Group’s three core brands; Def Jam Recordings, Island Records and Motown Records as “stand-alone” business operations, Habtemariam — who entered into the year as senior Vice President of Motown Records and head of urban music at Universal Music Publishing Groupwas promoted to President of the storied brand that brought the world Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Erykah Badu and NE-YO — to name a few. Not only has he parted ways with his former label Def Jam, his new label has named Ne-Yo the Senior VP of A&R. “I’m honored that I’ve been given such a prestigious title and trusted with such responsibility,” Ne-Yo said of the new position. “Terrified because I know that playing this role in the fashion of one of my career role models, Mr. Smokey Robinson — these are big shoes to fill.
