Prior to the New York City FC and the New York Red Bulls doing battle on the field today, their fans were having their own battle in the streets outside of Yankee Stadium. The teams were facing off in the Hudson River Derby match but fans were outside throwing bottles at each other and trying their best to throw punches as the NYPD did what they could to keep the scene from getting any worse. The rivalry itself is still very new and some people are probably surprised to know it even exists but it could be intense for years to come.

Hov already sold his minority stake in the Brooklyn Nets, but it seems he might have the fever to get involved with a different sport, and time with wifey Beyonce. Reports say the power couple are interested in joining David Beckham in bringing a MLS (soccer) team to the Miami area. A couple months back, Lebron also expressed interest in it. Regardless of star power associated with the team, pro sports teams are a hard sell in Miami. Everyone is too cool down there. If not for the success of the Heat, nobody would be in that arena watching them play. Even when the Dolphins are decent, their stadium is usually half empty. But one thing is for sure, if anyone could make it happen it would be this group of people.

Lebron James confirmed this week that he is in fact in talks with soccer superstar David Beckham about bringing an MLS team to the Miami area. Bron’, who already owns a percentage of Liverpool in the English Premier League said talks are still in the early stages. “There’s some interest in both sides,” James said Monday of his talks with Beckham, who has attended several Miami Heat games in recent seasons. “David has become a good friend of mine over the last few years, and I think it would be great for this city to have a football club for sure.” He continued “I have grown a great interest in watching the game and learning the guys,” James said of his involvement with soccer. “It’s a pretty intense sport, and my kids love it as well. But I’ve grown to the point where I know exactly what’s going on when I’m watching the game.” With him matched with a star the level of Beckham, they could make some good things happen.
