On Saturday afternoon, OVO Sound producer Mike Zombie (“Started From The Bottom,” “They Don’t Love You No More,”) put together his first annual celebrity basketball game in his hometown of Willingboro, New Jersey, with all proceeds going toward the youth in the community. “This Isn’t Just For The Kids To See Celebrities,” Mike said about the event. “It’s Also For Them To See With Their Own Eyes That People Are Doing Positive Things Where They Come From Or Even Close To Home! 609 !!!”
Mike Zombie is known for his production on Drake’s hit “Started From The Bottom” as well as DJ Khaled’s “Love You No More” with Jay Z, Meek Mill and French Montana, but he’s also a rapper as well. He recently put out a project called Rebel Without A Cause, and stopped by ‘The Hot Box’ on Hot 97 to promote it with DJ Enuff. After performing his RWAC cut “Southside Anthem,” Zombie also freestyled over an exclusive beat, “N*ggas In Japan.” Check it out below.
New Jersey rapper/producer Mike Zombie made his Hot 97 debut last night on Peter Rosenberg’s weekly show, ‘Real Late With Peter Rosenberg.’ After discussing how the “Started From The Bottom” beat came about, his relationship with OVO, working with DJ Khaled and more, Mike freestyled over a handful of beats, before ending the interview revealing the title of his next project, Rebel Without A Cause.
After remixing his track “Tuesday,” Drake has signed singer/rapper iLoveMakonnen to his OVO Sound imprint. Before coming out as a surprise on Drake’s set during the ‘Drake vs. Lil Wayne’ tour stop in Atlanta on Sunday night (where he resides, by way of L.A.), the singer alluded to the signing with a picture of “Tuesday” on iTunes, where it listed the song’s label as OVO Sound/Warner Bros. Records Inc. He later confirmed the signing with a tweet of the OVO Sound logo. iLoveMakonnen joins a roster that includes fellow artists Majid Jordan, OB O’Brien and PartyNextDoor, and producers Boi-1da, Mike Zombie, Nineteen85, Noah “40″ Shebib and T-Minus.
