Donald Trump has officially made good on his word about this “wall” between the U.S. and Mexico, today signing executive orders that begin moving towards building it – the goal being boosting border patrol forces and ordering an increase in deportations of undocumented immigrants. Construction of the wall could begin in months, but planning for the massive project is “starting immediately,” Trump said Wednesday in an interview with ABC News. The funds will come from the U.S., but he plans to have Mexico reimburse the costs.
Our prayers are with Mexico at this time, after local police have confirmed that at least 5 people lost their lives and 9 more were wounded last night in a shooting at Blue Parrot nightclub in Playa Del Carmen. The club was an after-party for the BPM Festival, so there were many people in town for what they thought was going to be a fun weekend of music and dancing. Sadly, the gunman – whose motive is not yet known – robbed them of that.
An explosion has just happened in Mexico’s best-known fireworks market on the northern outskirts of the capital. At least 27 people are dead and many more injured. The explosion happened at the open-air San Pablito fireworks market in Tultepec, about 20 miles (32 km) north of Mexico City.
