Auto Talk: Porsche 911-fighting Maserati GranSport to use twin-turbo V6 power?

Auto Express reports the new Maserati GranSport may bow with a twin-turbo V6 engine good for more than 450 horsepower. Designed by Ferrari, the engine will show up in a range over other models, including the Quattroporte and the Kubang utility vehicle (whatever it is actually named). Paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, the engine should have no trouble hustling the GranSport around your favorite track. As we’ve heard before, the GranSport will be based roughly on the Alfa Romeo 4C you see above. The report also suggests Maserati will work to keep the chassis fairly light with a target curb weight of 2,600 pounds thanks to its carbon fiber construction. That little mix sounds like a good time to us. Funk Flex

Auto Talk: Maserati GranSport to take Alfa 4C approach… with V8 power

If you’re of the opinion that Maserati has gone soft, you’re not alone. The company that once dominated grand prix racing and built mid-engined exotics today builds enticing, but relatively soft grand tourers with automatic transmissions. But there’s a reason for that. Since it was integrated into the Fiat group, the Trident marque had to find its own place, and competing head-on with sister-company Ferrari wasn’t an option. Funk Flex
