Macklemore and Ryan Lewis have taken the mainstream music world by storm, regardless of anyone’s personal opinions about the dynamic duo being considered “hip-hop” or not. Billboard recently released a list of the Top 100 Hot Rap Songs. Although it’s no surprise being that the song has gained so much popularity and won so many awards, “Thrift Shop” came in at #1. Kendrick Lamar Finally Speaks Out About Macklemore Post Grammy Text Message!!
The talk of this years Grammy awards was Kendrick vs. Macklemore and the fall out from that nights events are fodder for conversation till this day. With Macklemore sweeping the Grammys that night, rap fans were in an uproar. Macklemore even sent Kendrick a text apologizing for his victory and posted it on Instagram. When Macklemore beat out Kendrick Lamar in multiple rap categories at the Grammys this year, he sent a text to him, apologizing for what he calls “robbing” him. He then took it to Instagram to share it with the world, which almost appeared to be his way of deflecting any hate he was going to get for the win. Clearly, it didn’t work.
